Update and Prayer Request from Maria

To Charley's Friends and Family,

Charley's dear cousin, Maria, has been with Charley for four weeks, but went home last night to start summer camp. Nehemiah writes:

Maria has gone home with parents yesterday evening after her 4-week stay. She will start 4 weeks of camp next Monday. The contribution of her care on Charley is marvelous. She and Charley embraced together prior to her departure. Before her coming, she was not sure she could help Charley as Charley needed. Her dad, Eric, told her to just treat it as mission work and ask Jesus helps you. Last Friday night, we had bedside prayer. Maria thanked the Lord let her meet many wonderful people, including Mrs. Le and Mrs. Figueras. She is also thankful for making an intimate friend with Charley. Charley was touched so he requested to say a prayer afterward for the healing of someone special to him.

The following was written by Maria on Friday, July 20, 2007:

Dear Charley’s friends,

On Monday Mrs. Le came to see Charley and brought us all to the Hebert Candy Mansion in Shrewsbury. She bought us ice cream and i got Monster Mash and cherry moose tracks, Jennifer got monster mash and so did Mrs. Le. I had the greatest time at the candy mansion. After that we went to the Christmas Tree shop. There I got my very first pair of Crocs and Charley got two CD'S. One was about dinosours and the other one was about addition. The CD'S were songs about the subject. My crocs were dark blue. I also got Crocs pins for them. I got two puppies and two panda bears. Charley has crocs too and they are light brown, tan. He also has pins too, two Mickeys, two penguins and two hearts.

One day I had bad belly pains, just like Charley has sometimes. So Deborah gave me some medicine, but it was a pill...I had never taken a pill before. I was scared, but because I was so inspired by Charley I just took it. YES! my very first pill ever reached my body!

Today (July 20th), Charley had some procedures at Children’s Hospital. It all went well. You see, all they really did was taking samples of Charley's bone marrow and spinal fluid. We hope you pray that the tests come back good.

Please pray for Charley's spleen and liver shrink back to their normal sizes and pray that Charley's chin numbness is just a sign of detoxification and not his cancer coming to his chin area.

Bye!
Maria Latta (Charley's cousin )
