Update on 12/18/2006
Sorry, we are too busy to update Charley's progress since his singles got under control in mid-November. Brave Charley eventually overcame serious pain and got home on November 20th. Charley enjoyed his first Thanksgiving at home. Three weeks ago, his doctor gave us the good news that 100% of Charley's blood is supplied by the transplanted bone marrow (This beat an interim goal of 90%.). Thank God for protecting Charley over the 3 months post-BMT. So far, we have not seen symptoms of rejection.
In the past 26 days at home, Charley has visited the clinic twice a week. We tried the best to maintain a clean environment. We are also busy with our nursing tasks: oral medications (up to 8 different drugs) 4 times daily and 10-hour IV fluid each day. Charely cooperates well with little persuasion. Mommy and grandma have another challenging job of feeding him because Charley's appetite buds were destroyed during radiotherapy. Now, his eating is improving.
Nehemiah went to Taiwan on a 10-day business trip (12/12-21). I am touched by friends' love and care upon Charley: Mr. Yeh, sister Liu, Teresa, Ms. He, Mr. Kan, etc.
In the past several days, Charley walked with one leg. Apparently, the left leg attacked by shingles seems weak. Our neighbor Sapna and our friend Clement immediately provided help when they heard about this problem. Today, Charley's walking problem is still there. The doctor wants to see Charley for an Emergency visit.
Prayer requests:
1. Charley's weakness in legs will be healed
2. Strengthen Deborah for Charley's hospitalization if required
3. Bless Nehemiah's work in Taiwan and have a safe trip back home
